This module is aimed at learning clinical Management of Substance Use Disorders.
This module introduces the concept of screening as applicable to addictive disorders; offers training on administration of ASSIST (Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test); and offers training on the Brief Intervention (BI) for addictive disorders as linked to ASSIST.
The module is based primarily on two WHO publications- The Alcohol, Smoking and Substance involvement Screening Test (ASSIST) and The ASSIST-linked brief intervention for hazardous and harmful substance use.
This is a basic level course on Behavioral Addictions involving Use of Internet. The course is mainly a skill building coursed targeted at the current and future teachers, counselors and psychologists. Additionally, it aims to strengthen the knowledge of the participants on the theme of Behavioral Addictions involving Internet Use.
The participants are expected to put the learning in to practice. Children, adolescents and young adults are particularity vulnerable to the adverse consequences associated with Behavioral Addictions involving Internet Use. The teachers, counselors, clinical psychologists can leverage their close association with children, adolescents and young adults to translate learning from the course into practice. Similarly, those who aspire to be teachers, counselors, clinical psychologists and are receiving training for the same are also expected to benefit from the course.
